I was glad that I watched the Oprah show on Tuesday of this week in which Jenny McCarthy and Holly Robinson Peete spoke about being parents of children suffering with Autism. I was moved to tears when Jenny described being told her son Evan had autism. I remember that day like it was yesterday. The things that struck me the most was when Jenny described how she was trying everything to make her son well or responsive. I loved that she did not say that the wheat and dairy free diet was the "cure" but that it was a tool that works for her child but like chemotherapy it may not work for everyone.
I really dont want to be part of this exclusive club of mothers who can relate to a brand new word, or the joy of finally hearing the words "Mommy" or "I love you" from your child who wont even look at you. It is wonderful that Jenny is speaking out and providing a ray of "hope" to those of us looking for some answers, and a real understanding of our hopes and fears, as she understands them and lives them just like I do daily.
I thought that I would share that Jenny is speaking on a variety of shows in the next week. Hopefully you can catch one of the shows and maybe you too could understand just what it is like to live life daily with autism as a permenant member your family.
Jenny is appearing:
September 18th, 2007: Oprah Show

If you have any questions feel free to ask! I am sure that I dont have any answers but I am empathize with you and maybe together we can find some answers to why our children, why autism, and how can we meet it head on and see progress!

It is amazing what we find out our children can do when we let them spread thier wings and fly! I know that I am pretty over protective of Harrison but sometimes you must let go and let him try new things and just go with the flow! That is the theme this year on our fair visits! He enjoyed so many of the rides and the exibits that I am sure that tomorrows demolition derby will be his favorite of the fair! Enjoy the photos!

This past weekend my family participated in a Family Enrichment Weekend hosted by Families Together. We got involved with Families Together last year when we met Chris Curry and started working with her on getting the services needed for my son Harrison! The photos above are just a sample of the fun we had this past weekend. Enjoy!
Well I have finally taken the plung and started my own blog! I am so excited about having a place to post all my creations whatever products they are from. So here are a few of my first posting using CTMH cardstock, My Minds Eye, Basic Grey and Rusty Pickle! As you will see I love chipboard and flowers! Enjoy!
